Dabholkar has been working on CAD-based projects since 1997. He is a qualified mechanical draughtsman.
He has been working as a CAD expert for many companies in India. He is competent in AutoCAD-2D, SolidWorks, Revit 2009, ArchiCAD 11 and Vico Constructer. He is also proficient in Microsoft – Excel, Word, Power Point, CorelDraw and Photoshop.
He began working for CAD-based projects as a Senior CAD-draughtsman for an engineering services company where for three years he communicated with clients regarding their queries, scheduled and checked drawings prepared by a drafting team. He was working on electrical substation designs, electrical layout drawings, general arrangements, earth mat layouts, clearance diagrams, erection key drawings, protection drawings, structural drawings and architectural drawings.
He then started working as an AutoCAD designer for another company providing engineering-fabrication and construction services to construct heavy industrial Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB). Here, he worked on PEB structural drawings, general arrangements, fabrication drawings and erection drawings for four years.
He then worked with a company trading, distributing and supplying bundle note counting machines. Here he worked for six years on note counting machines, mainly drawings and detailing of clamper assemblies, cam assemblies, rotor assemblies, fabrication drawings and machine assemblies.
Then he worked as a mechanical draughtsman for a company that manufacturers automobile parts, components and hard chrome plated shafts in India. Here he worked for two years on component drawings, detail drawings, assembly drawings of portable irons, portable fans, table fans, ceiling fans, rotors and stators.
He then worked as a mechanical draughtsman for an Indian multinational company engaged in design, manufacturing and marketing of products related to power generation, transmission and distribution. In the fan division of the design department he worked for three years on designs of fans, assembly drawings, detail drawings, component drawings, fan end shields, blades, rotors, stators and blade alignments. In the Machine Division of the design department he worked on designs of submersible pumps, component drawings of fans, end shields, main bodies, rotors, stators and shafts.
Raval has been working since 2011 in the field of new product development. For the first two years, he worked on casting, forging and automotive projects. For the next two years, he worked on agricultural machinery design, producing drawings of tractors (from the initial design phase to the final marketing) for an Indian OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). This OEM assembled agricultural equipment, such as tractors, harvesters, sprayers, uni-platforms, etc. For the next 3 years he has been working for a major engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services conglomerate. He serves US and Europe-based automotive clients involved in the manufacturing of products for recreational purposes, such as ATVs, snowmobiles and motorcycles.
While working in the engineering services industry, he has handled a number of automotive projects. The most interesting CAD project that he has worked on so far was the one where he got the opportunity to design various automotive systems including driveline, gearbox, differential, engine, chassis, interior body work and exterior body.
He observes that today in the market for CAD services, design and manufacturing are coming together and every day companies launch new technologies. He believes that with the help of CAD prototyping, experts can now quickly make designs and models.
As he has been working for clients based in the U.S and Europe in the field of design and development for many years, he has learned how to select the best software for each application. He uses software to represent his conception of an idea and makes a selection according to customer requirements. His favorite tools are Creo Parametric 2.0 and 3.0, which he uses for 3D modelling, casting, forging, sheet metal and assembling models. He also likes Catia for surfacing. He likes to work on Unigraphic and AutoCAD 2D for 2D modelling.
Since he is handling projects for US and Europe-based clients, all the work-related discussion happens on Webex, Skype, and Jabber. He is now skilled in ways of connecting with the clients through Skype and remote servers. When faced with a difficult situation, he also meets the client.
Having worked as an interim CAD draftsman and an external CAD consultant on projects, he has learned about many new technologies. He looks forward to new challenges and opportunities every day.
ConnectMr. Raileanu has over twenty years’ experience in CAD-based solutions designing aluminum and steel machinery, fabrication drawings, processing and part designing.
He creates designs for HVAC systems. He has designed in the following areas:
• metal fabrication
• processing and part design
• drafting and MS Office
• 2D & 3D geometry creation and manipulation
• mechanical & sheet metal structural design
• product engineering and mechanical design
He has been working with AutoCAD since college days, however he works mainly on SolidWorks to design heat and ac frames, sheet metals and enclosures. He has worked with AutoCAD since 1989, however in 2004 he discovered SolidWorks and since then he has been designing 3D models and drawings only with SolidWorks. As a proficient user of SolidWorks, he believes SolidWorks has the best user interface and intuitive, reliable FEA (Failure Effects Analysis) features.
Since 2017, he has been working with a world-class manufacturer of dehumidifiers in Georgia. He has been designing and developing innovative products and production systems to support engineering requirements. He has been using SolidWorks extensively for all product designs, weldments and frames, work assemblies and subassemblies and creation of job fabrication binders for manufacturing team members. This includes all necessary part files, bend drawings, appropriate dimensional data, general overview layout, exploded views of critical component assemblies.
Since 2016, he has been working in another company, in development of anatomically-precise 3D and 4D surface imaging systems. He works with R&D products, responsible for creating and maintaining any CAD documentation required by sales, and developing detailed engineering drawings for system design, components, cabling, and prototyping 3D printing products.
From 2015 to 2016, he also provided CAD support for a pallet rack manufacturer in Georgia that offers a full range of services from design to installation of storage solutions for many industries and materials. He designed layouts and drawings for estimating, approval, permitting and fabrication.
One of his most challenging projects was one that required him to design and build a video electronic enclosure that had to be light and also appeal to specific customers in that field (medical devices). The challenges were to make it less heavy than the previous design, to fit all electronic components required, to have a good maintenance access and to look visually appealing.
He built a mobile dehumidifier unit with a small footprint to fit other competitors design, easy maintenance access, sturdy, structurally safe, outdoor proof and easy to maneuver. He also brought some new concepts to the design to challenge the competitors’ design, such as less energy consumption (less welding) and ability to stacking during shipping or storage.
He feels that the best thing about working as a CAD draftsman is that he gets to work from home.
He uses Skype and phone to communicate with clients. He shares his screen with clients for a variety of different purposes. He also uses Webex and GoToMeeting as he finds these tools to be very effective between people at different locations. He thinks they solve most of the issues related to projects. When required, however, he also meets clients face to face. He does not believe that issues can be solved only by face-to-face meetings, but in certain situations where a personal approach is required face-to-face meetings may be more appropriate.
