Dabholkar has been working on CAD-based projects since 1997. He is a qualified mechanical draughtsman.
He has been working as a CAD expert for many companies in India. He is competent in AutoCAD-2D, SolidWorks, Revit 2009, ArchiCAD 11 and Vico Constructer. He is also proficient in Microsoft – Excel, Word, Power Point, CorelDraw and Photoshop.
He began working for CAD-based projects as a Senior CAD-draughtsman for an engineering services company where for three years he communicated with clients regarding their queries, scheduled and checked drawings prepared by a drafting team. He was working on electrical substation designs, electrical layout drawings, general arrangements, earth mat layouts, clearance diagrams, erection key drawings, protection drawings, structural drawings and architectural drawings.
He then started working as an AutoCAD designer for another company providing engineering-fabrication and construction services to construct heavy industrial Pre-Engineered Buildings (PEB). Here, he worked on PEB structural drawings, general arrangements, fabrication drawings and erection drawings for four years.
He then worked with a company trading, distributing and supplying bundle note counting machines. Here he worked for six years on note counting machines, mainly drawings and detailing of clamper assemblies, cam assemblies, rotor assemblies, fabrication drawings and machine assemblies.
Then he worked as a mechanical draughtsman for a company that manufacturers automobile parts, components and hard chrome plated shafts in India. Here he worked for two years on component drawings, detail drawings, assembly drawings of portable irons, portable fans, table fans, ceiling fans, rotors and stators.
He then worked as a mechanical draughtsman for an Indian multinational company engaged in design, manufacturing and marketing of products related to power generation, transmission and distribution. Rallay is a Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP). He is a mechanical design engineer and has been handling complex design projects since 2010.   1. Describe a project that was particularly challenging. What was challenging about it? What was the solution and what results did you achieve?

    A. I designed a hat box to accommodate different sizes in Solidworks. The maximum lip dimensions were put into an Excel spreadsheet and I was given an image to trace. By accident the box also turned out to be suitable to be converted to fit a Star Vader helmet.

    B. I designed a SAM – sniffer (sensor) in 3D AutoCad. It is a detector for a dirty radiation bomb.

    I use AutoCad for 2D work, and SolidWorks, Solid Edge, Pro/E, Creo for 3D.

    I keep up to date with software by practicing

    I do everything myself. I don’t feel comfortable giving work to someone else because it may not turn out to be correct. I would rather make and correct my own mistakes.

V. Gainoutdinov

V. Gainoutdinov is currently an independent CAD consultant, a role he has performed since 1993. Mr. Gainoutdinov was previously the head of design at Lambda Research optics, a mechanical engineering design company based in the United States, from 1993 to 2013.

Mr. Gainoutdinov oversaw all design activities for the company and managed a team of 2D and 3D designers (focusing on Autodesk Inventor SolidWorks, AutoCAD and CATIA 5). Mr. Gainoutdinov started his career as Mechanical Engineer at Sure Fire LLC., where he was responsible for implementing the use of CAD tools in the company. He also worked directly with the company’s customers, including military personnel and engineers. Mr. Gainoutdinov received a BMES in Mechanical Engineering/Aerospace from MATI.

    All projects which I managed were challenging . Challenges differ from material of the product to customer requests. Solution is simple: do what customer required.

    I do update my skills by keeping myself informed by checking Engineering Websites, company new product development announcements regarding material properties and product design based on new modern materials. I do have some plans.

    Why or why not?
    What are some of the risks, in your opinion? Benefits?

    I prefer to do jobs myself because I am not sure that anyone else can make my project better.
