Mr. Sharma has been a CAD draftsman and designer since 2002 in water supply, sewerage systems, roads and drainage systems.

• From 2014-15, he worked with Jammu and Kashmir Economic Reconstruction Agency on framing specifications and reviewing design aspects for networks.

• From 2013 to 14, he was working with Bihar Urban Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited to improve water supply facility in Bhagalpur, Gaya and Darbhanga towns of Bihar. He undertook soil investigations and verified survey drawings, designed and reviewed water supply distribution network, optimized designs of water supply networks, prepared detailed scheme reports, created distribution network drawings and designed for rehabilitation of water pipelines.

• From 2013 to 15, he worked with Public Health Engineering Department, government of Rajasthan. Preparation of detailed civil, mechanical and engineering designs; detailed design engineering of water supply distribution network and preparation of the detailed drawings and cost estimates.

• From 2007-08, he worked on a reverse engineering project with a client outside India where initial designs were marked and he created detailed layouts.

• From 2005-06, he worked on a project with R&D design center of Maryland County. It involved residential, industrial and commercial site planning and infrastructure development relating water supply.

He makes use of phone and email to communicate with clients. He prefers face to face meetings to discuss projects, however he also uses Skype and WhatsApp to connect with distant clients and to transfer drawings that have been modified.

He works mainly on AutoCAD and SolidWorks for 2D as well as 3D modeling. He provides drafting and sketching services as well as Acrobat PDF conversion services.
He also worked in the field of paper-plant engineering from 2005-2010 during his studies. While working for paper-plant builders, he provided CAD services via email and phone. 1. What kinds of clients do you serve?

All kinds of companies that require machining of car parts. I design car or industrial part machining lines, including design of special machines, fixtures, transfer lines, FMS lines and multi spindles.

2. What was the most interesting CAD project that you ever worked on? What made it interesting? What challenges did you face?

Design the metalic car parts production & machining lines like the Peugeot 206 & 504 pivot and rear arme, the Renault drive shaft, a KIA Motors cylinder block and head, and EF7 motor cylinder block & head and brake disk lines.

3. Of the software tools that you use, which is your favorite and why?

Mechanical Desktop , because it has very powerful 2D. And Catia software , because it has very powerful 3D, analyse, and CAM. Also, Master CAM and Powermill.

4. What trends are you observing in the market for CAD services? How have these trends affected you, and how are you responding to them?

The latest technologies enable us to finish projects quick and easy.

5. What do you like about working as an interim CAD draftsman or external CAD consultant working on a time-bound project?

I can work both on site and remotely.

6. Have you ever provided CAD consulting services remotely, either via phone, the Web or email? Do you use any screen sharing tools (like Webex, Skype, or GoToMeeting), and are they effective? What kinds of questions and problems could you tackle remotely? Are there any issues that you feel are better handled face-to-face?

Face to face is best, and after that is email. Skype is last because my net connection speed is not good.

Velauthan is a mechanical engineer. He has been working on HVAC CAD-based design services for architects and builders of commercial base buildings. He provides consultation, planning and design services for HVAC CAD.

He has worked on CAD-based projects for an Indian bank, a Canadian company that develops and sells enterprise information management software and an American conglomerate. The projects he has been working on involved concepts of interior layout and ceiling work. He is competent in handling projects based on HVAC CAD-based services including preparation of plans, sections and schematics of HVAC services. This includes chiller plant layout, ducting layout, piping layouts, detailing of plant rooms with necessary sections.

The most significant challenge for him has been the design of HVAC ducting layouts in such a way that they remain intact throughout the gradual development and the ceiling layout. While working on CAD-based projects he prepares HVAC CAD-based detailed drawings for ducting, piping and schematics.

AutoCAD has been his primary tool for producing drawings since his college days. He has also been competent in the use of Autodesk Revit since he began his career.

He travels extensively for work and discusses projects with clients face-to-face. He also communicates with them via email, TeamViewer, GoToMeeting, BlueJeans and Skype.

Sebastian has been working on CAD-based projects for architects in the US since 2000. She has been handling projects related to large apartments, including lobbies, interiors and exteriors. She also reviews design operations for her clients.

She is competent in both 2D as well as 3D. She prefers to use Autodesk Revit, but she also uses AutoCAD.

Her favorite project was an interior design of a lobby since March 2017. To begin, she had to review in detail whatever was unsatisfactory with the existing design and then she produced drawings for a new design. In another one of her other favorite projects, she worked on a church which was converted to an apartment building by a developer previously. She began the process by reviewing what the property developer had already done and found out that the church’s exterior was not planned causing a lot of infiltration, so she focused and planned on the exterior of this church again.

She is familiar with Skype and Webex in order to address issues that do not require face to face interaction with a client.

Rallay

Rallay is a Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP). He is a mechanical design engineer and has been handling complex design projects since 2010. Most of his CAD projects are 3D models, electrical circuit diagrams, P&ID’s (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams), sheet metal drawings and weldment drawing. Aggarwal has been working since 2006 in the field of design as an architect. He started working on CAD projects early on during the initial years of his Master’s degree in Architecture. He has been handling projects for the building construction industry ever since. His favorite tools are AutoCAD 2D and 3D, Google SketchUp and Photoshop.

During the course of his Master’s degree in Sheffield in the UK, he got an opportunity to design his university campus in 3D using AutoCAD 3D, which further led him to get many projects with clients in Sheffield. Raval has been working since 2011 in the field of new product development. For the first two years, he worked on casting, forging and automotive projects. For the next two years, he worked on agricultural machinery design, producing drawings of tractors (from the initial design phase to the final marketing) for an Indian OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer). This OEM assembled agricultural equipment, such as tractors, harvesters, sprayers, uni-platforms, etc. For the next 3 years he has been working for a major engineering, construction, manufacturing and financial services conglomerate. He serves US and Europe-based automotive clients involved in the manufacturing of products for recreational purposes, such as ATVs, snowmobiles and motorcycles.

While working in the engineering services industry, he has handled a number of automotive projects. The most interesting CAD project that he has worked on so far was the one where he got the opportunity to design various automotive systems including driveline, gearbox, differential, engine, chassis, interior body work and exterior body.

He observes that today in the market for CAD services, design and manufacturing are coming together and every day companies launch new technologies. He believes that with the help of CAD prototyping, experts can now quickly make designs and models.

As he has been working for clients based in the U.S and Europe in the field of design and development for many years, he has learned how to select the best software for each application. He uses software to represent his conception of an idea and makes a selection according to customer requirements. His favorite tools are Creo Parametric 2.0 and 3.0, which he uses for 3D modelling, casting, forging, sheet metal and assembling models. He also likes Catia for surfacing. He likes to work on Unigraphic and AutoCAD 2D for 2D modelling.

Since he is handling projects for US and Europe-based clients, all the work-related discussion happens on Webex, Skype, and Jabber. He is now skilled in ways of connecting with the clients through Skype and remote servers. When faced with a difficult situation, he also meets the client.

Having worked as an interim CAD draftsman and an external CAD consultant on projects, he has learned about many new technologies. He looks forward to new challenges and opportunities every day.
