Files

To ensure your files are actually usable once they reach us, please keep the following in mind before uploading them to our system:

1. File Integrity and Safety

  • Virus and Malware Scanning: All files should be scanned with up-to-date antivirus software before transmission.

  • No Executables: Unless specifically required, avoid uploading .exe, .bat, or .sh files, as these are high-risk.

2. Technical Specifications

  • Maximum File Size: Files should not exceed 500MB. For larger files, provide us with a Dropbox link.

  • Approved File Formats: We allow most file extensions, including but not limited to: .pdf, .jpg, .tif, .png, .dwg, .docx, .zip, .doc, .rvt, .nwd, .nwc, .dxf, .dgn, .sldprt, .sldasm, .skp, .ai, .stp and .txt.

  • Compression: If you are uploading a large folder or many small files, compress the data into a single .zip or .7z archive. This is more efficient for the server to process than hundreds of individual transfers.

3. Naming Conventions and Metadata

  • Standardized Naming: Ask them to avoid special characters (!, @, #, $, %), spaces, or non-Latin characters in filenames. A good format to use is: YYYYMMDD_ProjectName_Version.ext.

  • Version Control: Include a version number (e.g., _v01, _final) to prevent overwriting existing files on the server.

  • Documentation: If the file requires context, upload a small .txt “readme” file or a description in the upload metadata explaining what the file is and who it is for.
